Afternoon: Arrive at your accommodation and settle in at your own pace. Take time to enjoy the gardens, pool or surrounding nature after your flight. There is no sightseeing planned today — simply time to slow down, refresh and enjoy your first evening in Sri Lanka.

Day 02

Sigiriya Rock & The Painted Caves

Morning: Begin your first full day with an early visit to the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Climb through the ancient citadel and its dramatic rock galleries before reaching the summit, where sweeping views extend across the surrounding forests and plains.

Afternoon: Continue to the Dambulla Cave Temple, where centuries-old Buddha statues and richly preserved murals fill a series of atmospheric rock chambers.

Evening: Return to your accommodation and enjoy a relaxed evening surrounded by the peaceful landscapes of the Cultural Triangle.

Afternoon: Continue through the UNESCO-listed Knuckles Forest Reserve towards Corbet's Gap, stopping along the way to take in sweeping views across the rugged highlands and forested valleys.

Afternoon: Arrive in the isolated village of Meemure, nestled beneath the dramatic Lakegala Peak. Settle into your village accommodation before taking a gentle guided walk through the surrounding paddy fields and traditional village landscape.

Morning: Set out with a local guide into the surrounding mountains, following forest paths and clear streams towards natural rock pools and waterfalls. Take time to swim and cool off in the mountain waters.

Afternoon: Return to the village and experience Sri Lankan cooking using fresh local ingredients and traditional clay-pot techniques. Prepare the meal together before enjoying it in the peaceful surroundings of Meemure.

Evening: As darkness falls, gather around the campfire for a relaxed evening of local stories and conversation beneath the mountain sky.

Day 06

Morning: Leave Meemure behind and travel back through the mountains by 4x4 before continuing towards Kandy. The journey gradually transitions from remote highland villages to the historic royal city.

Afternoon: After settling into your hotel, take a relaxed walk around Kandy Lake and explore the atmosphere of the city as evening approaches.

Evening: Experience the rhythm and traditions of Kandyan culture through an evening performance featuring traditional drumming, dancing and the famous fire-walking ceremony.

Morning: Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic during the morning Puja ceremony, when the temple comes alive with traditional rituals, drums and devotees.

Afternoon: Continue to the Royal Botanic Gardens of Peradeniya. Wander through its expansive grounds, tropical plant collections and avenues of towering trees before returning to Kandy.

Day 08

The Highland Railway & Little England

Morning: Board a reserved first-class or observation-class railway service and journey into Sri Lanka's legendary tea country. The train winds through forests, mountain valleys and rolling tea plantations as the landscape becomes cooler and mistier.

Afternoon: Arrive in Nanu Oya and continue to Nuwara Eliya. Visit a historic tea factory to discover the traditional production of Ceylon tea, followed by a tasting or classic high tea.

Day 09

From Tea Country to Galle Fort

Afternoon: Arrive at Galle Fort, the historic walled city overlooking the Indian Ocean. Explore its atmospheric lanes, colonial buildings, boutiques and cafés before walking along the ancient ramparts as the sun begins to set.

Booking & Payment

A deposit of 20 % is required to confirm your booking.

The remaining 80 % can be paid in cash upon arrival or by bank transfer no later than 3 days before your arrival.

For bank transfers, all applicable bank charges are to be covered by the customer. The full invoice amount must be received by Die kleine Insel.

Cancellation Policy

The 20 % deposit is generally non-refundable.

In the event of cancellations within 30 days before arrival, as well as in the case of no-shows, there is also no entitlement to a refund, as accommodation, transfers and other travel services are arranged and confirmed in advance on a binding basis.
