Day 01

Into the Wilderness

Colombo · Knuckles Massif · Deanston / Dothalugala

Schedule: Meet your private chauffeur in Colombo and travel towards the foothills of the UNESCO-listed Knuckles Conservation Forest.

Afternoon: Leave the roads behind and begin your journey into the mountains. Trek through forest and valley landscapes towards your wilderness campsite, where a natural waterfall and clear mountain stream await. As evening falls, gather around the campfire for dinner beneath the stars.

Day 02

Misty Ridges & Hidden Pools

Knuckles Forest Reserve

Morning: Set out on a full-day guided trek through the remote landscapes of the Knuckles range. Follow mountain ridges through misty cloud forests, discover endemic birdlife and pass secluded cascades hidden within the forest.

Afternoon: Cool off in a natural rock pool before returning to camp. As daylight fades, prepare dinner outdoors and settle beneath the open sky for an evening of quiet stargazing.

Day 03

By Mountain Railway into the Clouds

Knuckles · Scenic Train · Ohiya

Morning: Descend from the Knuckles mountains and board the scenic railway towards the highlands of Ohiya. Watch the landscape transform as the train climbs through tea country, valleys and increasingly misty mountain terrain.

Afternoon: Arrive in Ohiya at around 2,000 metres above sea level, where the air turns crisp and the cloud forests begin. Settle into your high-country camp overlooking the vast valleys stretching towards the south.

Day 04

Horton Plains & World's End

Horton Plains National Park · Ohiya

Morning: Rise early and trek across the high montane grasslands of Horton Plains. Follow the trail through misty landscapes towards Baker’s Falls before continuing to the dramatic 900-metre precipice of World's End.

Afternoon: Take your time exploring the plateau and watch for sambar deer grazing across the open grasslands. Return to camp as the afternoon light fades and enjoy a quiet evening around the lantern-lit fire.

Day 05

Sunrise Above the Clouds

Ohiya · Waterfall Descent · Colombo Airport

Morning: Wake to the first light spreading across the mountain valleys and the cloud sea below. After breakfast, begin your scenic descent through the highlands, passing cascading waterfalls and winding mountain roads on the journey towards Colombo.

Afternoon: Continue to Colombo Airport with your private chauffeur for a direct drop-off at your departure terminal and your onward journey home.

Overnight: Departure / Tour Ends

About Your Journey

Booking & Payment

A deposit of 20 % is required to confirm your booking.

The remaining 80 % can be paid in cash upon arrival or by bank transfer no later than 3 days before your arrival.

For bank transfers, all applicable bank charges are to be covered by the customer. The full invoice amount must be received by Die kleine Insel.

Cancellation Policy

The 20 % deposit is generally non-refundable.

In the event of cancellations within 30 days before arrival, as well as in the case of no-shows, there is also no entitlement to a refund, as accommodation, transfers and other travel services are arranged and confirmed in advance on a binding basis.
